Karen has a way of drawing her readers into her stories and falling in love with her characters from page one. I was drawn in and loved how Elizabeth King throws herself into the work of the mission of saving young girls from brothels in Chinatown. I also enjoyed how Elizabeth and Charles McKinley keep bumping into each other and how a romance forms. Although the third book in a series, this can be read as a standalone. I would recommend this book to readers that enjoy historical, romance novels.
