This book represents a concerted effort to follow the prompting that I have been given to encourage Latter-day Saint parents in filling their many critical responsibilities with confidence. I hope to help parents better utilize the tools and knowledge we have been given by Christ to prepare their children for a faithful future. Youth are best taught by the daily interaction of their parents. Youth need to see better examples of how their place in God's Kingdom can fit them personally. Youth need to better understand how temple covenants benefit their daily life. Learning these truths will help them fulfill critical roles as problem-solvers, teachers and gatherers in the future. The Gathering of Israel will not simply be gifted. It will be brought about by the increased capacity of the youth.
About the Author
My Savior has taught me not to fear. From a young age, he promised me I did not need to fear loneliness because I was baptized into a church fellowship. I now know I do not need to fear inadequacy because I can repent, again and again. I do not need to fear worthlessness because of the destiny described in my temple experience. I do not need to fear losing my way because the Holy Ghost, my prophet, and the scriptures guide my steps.
I have served as a youth leader almost every year of my adult life. As a stake Young Women president and parent of three teenage daughters, I felt an urgent responsibility to find better answers to teenagers' reoccurring questions. I felt I needed to find a better way to prepare them for a future that can be bright, but unpredictable. How can we build a consistent faith of action like Nephi's, Mary's, Daniel's or Esther's? What did they know that helped them do what they did? I have been looking for answers to these questions so it can be helpful to my children and to yours. GiveawayReview
In her book, Spiritual Resilience, Sharla Goettl relates personal spiritual resilience to that of Nephi from the Book of Mormon. From her own experiences working with youth, she teaches how youth can better prepare and become spiritually resilient. The scriptural references to Nephi and his life and family are inspiring and relatable, bringing the Book of Mormon to life, while also teaching the youth in a way they can understand. Although this book is for youth, it is an excellent book that other older readers will enjoy as well.
