The Enemy Between Us by Melinda Sue Sanchez -- Review

7/27/2020

About the Book

Picture
ITALY, 1943

As war tears her country apart, Franca Chessari's sole focus is on supporting her family amid Nazi occupation. But when her parents, both high-ranking partisans, go missing, Franca is compelled to take action---even if it means crossing enemy lines to save those she loves.

Peter Weimer is a German soldier forced into a war he abhors. When he can take no more of the Nazi atrocities he’s been forced to witness, he deserts the German army—a decision that brands him as an enemy.

Franca and Peter were nothing more than two strangers from enemy countries, but when their paths collide amid the horrors of war, they are swept into an epic journey of chilling danger, unparalleled courage, and a sweeping passion that could cost them everything they have fought for.

Review

Author Melinda Sue Sanchez shares a heart-wrenching WWII story, including a unique point of view of the Italians, drawing readers into her tale.  The first part of the story reads much like women’s fiction, but as the story develops, the romance does as well.  This story is about two “enemies,” Franca and Peter, that because of the war meet and develop a relationship, which they fight to some degree, especially Franca.  But eventually Franca let’s Peter break down her defenses and they fall in love, regardless to the fact that he is a German Nazi.  Sanchez has crafted a beautiful and stunning adventure filled romance story that readers will delight in.

Review

Author Jody Hedlund has written and absolutely beautiful marriage of convenience story in her novel A Bride of Convenience.  The story is of pushing through the struggles of living in the colonies.  It’s about overcoming unexpected circumstances, including an unexpected marriage and then a rapidly growing family, as well as rediscovering a lost brother.  And most of there is the romance that will take away the breath of readers as swoon with the romantic tension throughout the story.  Readers will love the compassion and the love that Zoe has for orphaned children and the faith of Paster Abe and as they come to create a family all their own.  This story is delightful from cover to cover and readers will not want to set it down.

The Truth About Fame (Faith & Fortune #2) by Toni Shiloh -- Review

7/7/2020

About the Book

Picture
My life has always been in the spotlight. Born to two famous parents and then quickly rising to "super" status in the modeling world ensured that I, Astoria "Tori" Bell, would always have my image plastered across newsstands. Unfortunately, adoring fans weren't always magnanimous and now I have a stalker on my hands.

Oddly enough, the tall, dark, and all-too handsome bodyguard hired to protect me seems more harmful than the threatening notes from the stalker. As well as his plan to flush out the danger by proposing a fake engagement.

The lines between pretend and reality blur and I have to shore up my resolves. Baggage from my past means I can't let myself be vulnerable. But the way Marcel Fox treats me has me thinking otherwise.

With a new rock on my finger and the man who put it there by my side, happily ever after seems like a possibility or is that as fake as my public persona?

The Truth About Fame is the second book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.

Molly (Sewing in SoCal #1) by Sarah Monzon -- Review

7/6/2020

About the Book

Picture
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I absolutely refuse to tell a lie no matter the consequences. So don’t ask me a direct question unless you’re prepared for a direct answer—that’s something my SoCal sewing girlfriends have learned the hard way.
But who would have thought my honesty policy would get me fired from my job at the preschool? Or that a desperate—and not to mention devastatingly handsome—single father of one of my (now-former) students would hire me that same day as a nanny for his daughter?
I’m an education professional. How hard can taking care of a four-year-old and her over-stressed, over-worked father be?

Start with Me by Kara Isaac is a beautiful story about grace and forgiveness and redemption.  It’s about two broken people that are drawn together, but have a somewhat tragic past.  This is a powerful story of overcoming the past and moving towards the future.  It’s also about a story of the power of true love.  This is a fabulously written book that will take readers on a journey they will not regret reading for one minute.

The Trouble With Love (Faith & Fortune #1) by Toni Shiloh -- Review

7/2/2020

About the Book

Picture
I, Holiday Brown, have it all. A platinum record. Multi-million dollar home in Manhattan that I share with my two best friends. Life is looking fantastic until my roommate’s brother decides to bunk in our guestroom while his house gets renovated.

W. Emmett Bell has always been the bane of my existence. He’s annoying, stubborn, a know it all, and just might be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. But I refuse to fall for him. Then his sister’s threatened by a stalker and dynamics change. His unwavering faith isn’t quite as self-righteous as I’d always thought, and maybe he has a good side I’ve overlooked all these years.

Or maybe it’s all too much trouble.

The Trouble With Love is the first book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.
