I have been writing fiction for more than twelve years. It has been an exciting journey for this math-loving-dyslexic girl. I had read less than a handful of novels by the time I graduated from college and I thought I would end up in the field of science or math. But God had other plans and I wouldn't trade this journey for anything. As someone told me once, God's plans may not be easy, and they may not always make sense but they are never boring.

In addition to my writing, I also work for My Book Therapy as a special project project manager and blog coordinator for LearnHowToWriteAnNovel.com and you can find me blogging over there on occasion.

When I am not writing or working, I spend time with my amazing husband. We have been married for fifteen wonderful years and have three sweet children. In my free time, I love coffee, rock hounding with my husband and kids, and distracting myself from housework.

What a great story.  From cover to cover, the author brings to life her characters and their historic town.  This story a beautiful and sweet romance that readers will immediately fall in love with.  It’s about two siblings and their love stories.  This story shares about real-life and has relatable characters that readers will not want to let go.  A theme in this story is that life isn’t always easy and it doesn’t always go as expected, but somehow with God it always works out how it’s supposed to.  Readers will not want to miss this new voice in Christian fiction.

Allie Hollis is everything a cheerleader should be--beautiful, outgoing, and smart--but her brilliant smile hides a devastating secret. So when Jason begins to show interest in her, there's no question: her answer is no.

Yet, in the face of Allie's chilly response, Jason's gentle persistence pays off, and a tentative friendship grows. Their chemistry is obvious, but Allie's determination to steer clear of a relationship with Jason goes deeper than he realizes. The Words Between Us by Erin Bartels -- Review

9/24/2019

About the Book

Picture
Robin Windsor has spent most of her life under an assumed name, running from her family's ignominious past. She thought she'd finally found sanctuary in her rather unremarkable used bookstore just up the street from the marina in River City, Michigan. But the store is struggling and the past is hot on her heels.

When she receives an eerily familiar book in the mail on the morning of her father's scheduled execution, Robin is thrown back to the long-lost summer she met Peter Flynt, the perfect boy who ruined everything. That book--a first edition Catcher in the Rye--is soon followed by the other books she shared with Peter nearly twenty years ago, with one arriving in the mail each day. But why would Peter be making contact after all these years? And why does she have a sinking feeling that she's about to be exposed all over again?

With evocative prose that recalls the classic novels we love, Erin Bartels pens a story that shows that words--the ones we say, the ones we read, and the ones we write--have more power than we imagine.

Erin Bartels has written a beautiful and delightful story in her novel The Words Between Us.  This story is about a woman who is running from her past.  Book devotees will absolutely love this story because it’s about a strong bond of friendship built through the reading and sharing of books.  The author tells a wonderful story and does an excellent job of switching back and forth between the present and the past (remembering the teenage years).  It’s about pulling apart the pieces of life and putting them back together again.  This is a sweet and easy warm-fuzzy story that readers will thoroughly enjoy!

Author Denise Weimer has written a captivating and intriguing historical romance in her novel, The Witness Tree.  It is obvious that Weimer has done her research, as she brings to life the characters in her story that starts in Salem North Carolina in August of 1805.  Although there is an underlying theme of romance and growth in the relationship between the main couple in the story, there is also a lot of focus on the different types of people and their ways of life.  This story is one that will teach readers about what it was like to be a missionary and live among the Cherokee and the knowledge, as well as the dangers it brings.  Readers will learn a lot from this historical novel.

Deborah: Prophetess of God by H.B. Moore -- Review + Giveaway

9/19/2019
Picture

About the Book

Picture
From 4-time Whitney Award winning author, H.B. Moore, comes the new biblical novel about Deborah the Judge, a woman who rises from oppression and leads her entire nation to victory.

After years of mistreatment, the Israelites prepare to defend themselves against the oppressive Canaanites. Readying for war not only takes secret military training but also an Israelite leader who is willing to both stand against generations of oppression and follow God.
Deborah, a young Israelite woman, lives a quiet and isolated life with her father and brothers. As a shepherdess in the hills near her home, she knows well the perils of her work. But when faced with incredible danger, she witnesses a series of remarkable events that preserve her life. The hand of the Lord is apparent, and it is clear that hers will be no ordinary life.
Years later, Deborah is a faithful wife and mother when she learns that the Third Judge of Israel has died--and she has been called to take his place. It is a tumultuous time in history, and soon, Deborah--prophetess, judge, and military leader--faces a seemingly insurmountable task: alongside the commander of the Israelite army, Deborah must lead ten thousand soldiers in their final campaign against their Canaanite oppressors with only her faith in God to guide her.

Deborah: The Prophetess of God by H.B. Moore is a beautiful and touching story.  Moore has crafted a tale about a young shepherdess and a chosen daughter of God and her influence.  This story tells of the oppressions of the children of Israel and their faith through their hardships.  But this is not only the story of the Israelite people, but one in particular.  It’s the inspiring story of Deborah, a women of strength and of faith.  This novel is excellently written and well researched, bringing to life the stories from the scriptures.  Readers will be enticed and mesmerized by this excellent biblical novel.

The Lady and the Highwayman by Sarah M. Eden -- Review

9/18/2019
Picture

About the Book

Picture
Elizabeth Black is the headmistress of a girls’ school and a well-respected author of “silver-fork” novels, stories written both for and about the upper-class ladies of Victorian society. But by night, she writes very different kinds of stories—the Penny Dreadfuls that are all the rage among the working-class men. Under the pseudonym Mr. King, Elizabeth has written about dashing heroes fighting supernatural threats and dangerous outlaws romancing helpless women. They contain all the adventure and mystery that her real life lacks.

Fletcher Walker began life as a street urchin, but is now the most successful author in the Penny Dreadful market, that is until Mr. King started taking all of his readers--and his profits. No one knows who King is, including Fletcher’s fellow members of the Dread Penny Society, a fraternity of authors dedicated to secretly fighting for the rights of the less-fortunate.

Determined to find the elusive Mr. King, Fletcher approaches Miss Black. As a fellow-author, she is well-known among the high-class writers; perhaps she could be persuaded to make some inquiries as to Mr. King’s whereabouts? Elizabeth agrees to help Fletcher, if only to insure her secret identity is never discovered.

For the first time, Elizabeth experiences the thrill of a cat-and-mouse adventure reminiscent of one of her own novels as she tries to throw Fletcher off her scent. But the more time they spend together, the more she loses her heart. Its upper-class against working-class, author against author where readers, reputations, and romance are all on the line.

Sarah M. Eden has written a fabulous Victorian mystery and romance novel in The Lady and the Highwayman.  This book is full of adventure, monsters, and headstrong women.  Oh and of course romance.  There are twists and turns in this story that pop out when readers least expect them.  Although the monsters in this story bring a bit of a different angle to Eden’s storytelling that some readers may not anticipate, Eden’s writing and storytelling is excellent as always, bringing this fascinating story to life.  Readers interested in the Victorian era with a bit of mystery will thoroughly enjoy this story!

Fall is just around the corner and Denise Weimer’s Fall Flip is the perfect book to curl up with.  Weimer has created a fun and engaging story involving a home renovation and a touch of romance romance with a bit of cozy mystery feel.   The characters in this story are both engaging and easy to relate to.  This charming story also has a bit of a Hallmark movie feel.  It is a charming and easy read that is just right for the cooler fall weather.
