Review
Danager, blackmail, continuous witty banter (the word play games are the absolute best), and of course ridiculously swoony romance, this story has everything a reader wants. A rags-to-riches, second-chance-at-life story that readers will absolutely adore. This story has so many fun characters from the FMC and MMC Nancy and Matthew to the best side characters including a rigid aunt who really has a gooey interior and a standoffish grandfather who really just wanted to get to know his granddaughter. And of course there are the bad guys. This story is just an absolute delight to read from cover to cover. Especially with the swoony swoony romance between Nancy and Matthew. They have so many fun scenes that range from delightful witty banter to devastatingly paralyzing and senseless kissing. Readers will not want to miss another story from Samantha Hastings!

About the BookTold mostly through letters, texts, and email, this contemporary romance will charm its way into hearts as Penelope rescues a theater and discovers her true self in the process. Penelope Edgewood is practically positive in every way, so when, fresh out of college, she is awarded a paid internship to help save a century-old theater on the island of Skymar, she jumps at the chance. After all, a crumbling theater needs the special touch of someone who reveres all things vintage and adores the stage. Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems at Darling House Theatre. Finances are in shambles, the local theater group is disenchanted, and the two brothers, Matt and Alec Gray, can’t seem to see eye-to-eye about how to run their theatrical business. So, of course, it’s the perfect place for Penelope to shine her own personal brand of sunshine. With a little help from GK, the person emailing her encouragement along the way, she puts all her heart into helping the Grays save Darling House. But between Matt’s ever-present skepticism, Alec’s tendency to treat Penelope a little too much like the “princess” she thinks she wants to be (until someone actually started treating her that way), a grandfather who is stuck in his grief, and a mysterious person stealing Penelope’s marketing ideas, she’s not sure her optimism is enough to make a happily-ever-after of her own story, let alone The Darling House’s. Between an adorable little girl, a matchmaker, a sea monster or two, and a copious amount of musical references, can Penelope draw enough confidence from her faith, her family, and her adoration of all things Julie Andrews, to find the thief and save the theater . . . without getting her heart broken in the process? Charming contemporary romance Perfect for fans of Dear Mr. Knightley and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society Includes discussion questions for book clubs About the AuthorPepper Basham is an award-winning author who writes romance peppered with grace and humor. ReviewReaders will enjoy this light, quick, fun read that is told mostly from the point of view of letters and text messages throughout the story. This heart-felt story is full of vulnerable life situations that make the characters easy to relate to. A huge theme in the story is to try and make the best of life, finding joy in the journey as best as you can, giving the main female character a Pollyanna kind of vibe. A fun and cute romantic story that readers of theater and classic movies will adore. Although this book can be read as a stand alone, readers will have a better understanding of what is taking place, this series is one that will be better read in order as conversations from the first book are referred to in this one. This is a cute rumpy-sunshine, single dad, workplace, forced proximity romance full of witty banter that readers will not want to miss.
Series: Skymar Genre: contemporary, romance, chicklit, romcom Publisher: Thomas Nelson Publication date: August 1, 2023 Number of pages: 416 Other books in the series: 1-Authentically, Izzy 3-Loyally, Luke (coming May 2024) Disclosure statement: A complimentary review copy of this book was provided from tour groups, publishers, publicists, authors, and others, including NetGalley, OR was borrowed from the library, including OverDrive, Or borrowed from Kindle Unlimited, OR borrowed from Deseret Bookshelf, OR pre-ordered/purchased for review, including Audible. About the BookIt's a truth often acknowledged that when a journalist and Jane Austen fan girl ends up living next door to a cynical but handsome crime writer, romantic sparks will fly! When Maddy Shaw is told her Dear Jane column has been cancelled she has no choice but to look outside of London’s rental market. That is until she’s left an idyllic country home by the black sheep of the family, long-not-so-lost Cousin Nigel. But of course, there’s a stipulation… and not only is Maddy made chair of the committee for the annual village literary festival, she also has to put up with bestselling crime author –and romance sceptic – Cameron Massey as her new neighbor. When Maddy challenges Cameron to write romantic fiction, which he claims is so easy to do, sparks fly both on and off the page… About the AuthorLinda Corbett lives in Surrey with her husband Andrew and three permanently hungry guinea pigs. As well as being an author, Linda is treasurer and fundraiser for Shine Surrey – a volunteer-led charity that supports individuals and families living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. For many years she also wrote a regular column for Link, a disability magazine, illustrating the humorous aspects of life with a complex disability and she is a passionate advocate of disability representation in fiction. Love You From A-Z is her first published novel. ReviewIn her novel What Would Jane Austen Do? author Linda Corbett has written a witty Jane Austen-inspired enemies to lovers romantic comedy that readers will thoroughly enjoy. Although starting out a little slow, readers should stick it out because when Jane Austen fan girl and journalist Maddy Shaw and grumpy next door neighbor crime writer Cameron Massey meet, sparks fly! Readers may expect Jane Austen to have a bit more of a tie in with the story, but it’s more of an inspiration than a story focus. A sparkling enemies to lovers story that readers will find entertaining and humorous.
