Denly’s novel has two storylines told from 4 different points of view making the story a bit confusing to follow. After readers get into the flow of the separate storylines and points of view, it’s a bit easier to understand. This is an interesting story with intriguing characters that must face and overcome their hardships. Immigration, corruption, poverty, are all parts of the story that will draw readers in. Although the story does drag on a little bit, readers of historical fiction will enjoy it.
