My First Line:

Cornelia Greystock glanced at the ormolu clock that graced the wall over her dressing table and her whole body tensed with urgency. The exquisite timepiece was the Countess Du’Breven’s way of ensuring that her hired companion was ever aware of the time. The faint ticking of the clock movement further served to remind Cornelia that her time was no longer her own. Indeed, it was likely never to be again.

Happy Friday! My first line is from How to Make Victoria Sponge by Margaret Kazmierczak.

"Monday, six-fifteen in the morning and the alarm wakes me up for a new day."

I have shared the first line of J.D. Robb's newest release Leverage in Death. But here I'll share the first line of the last chapter of the book I am currently reading. This is from Laura J. Burns and Melinda Metz forthcoming book I Do Not Trust You.

"The sky darkened. The air, then the ground, vibrated with a sound so low it was almost inaudible, like the sound the individual Set pieces made, only amplified a hundred times over. It invaded M's entire body, hammering at her skull, the delicate bones of her ears, and every joint that connected her frame."

I hope you enjoyed that. Happy Friday! :D

Ooh...that one sound lovely. I do believe I will be checking it out. Beautiful cover, too. On my blog, I'm featuring "Engaging the Competition" by Melissa Jagears. Hope you will stop by to check it out. Wishing you a great weekend!

Happy Friday! I’m featuring Michelle Griep’s new novella, A Tale of Two Hearts, on my blog today. Here is the second line:

“Closing her eyes, she savored the warmth and the first line to a new adventure, as was her wont whenever Miss Whymsy stopped by and lent her a book."

Happy Friday!
The Book I'm sharing on my blog this week is A Love Restored by Kelly Goshorn but I'm currently reading The Abolitionist's Daughter by Kathleen Maher so I'll share the first line of that here: "The wrong ideas could get a head--and a body--into a heap of trouble." Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of quality reading time! :)
