First Line Fridays -- 07.15.16

7/15/2016
Picture
It is Friday and I am joining Carrie from Reading is My SuperPower, Rachel from Bookworm Mama, and Beth from Faithfully Bookish in First Line Fridays.  If you would like to join us, send Carrie a meassage and let her know!

Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Let's shake it up a little.  Today I am going to pull a first line from a young adult fairytale, science fiction fantasy book, I'm Not Cinderella by Tarrah Montgomery.  This is book #1 in the Princess Chronicles Series.

This is such a fun and exciting fairytale story!

You can check out my review HERE and an interview with the author HERE.

Add this book to GOODREADS or order from AMAZON--KINDLE & Print (currently not available on Amazon, but can be found it at your local Seagull Book or Deseret Book).

"Once upon a time in a land not so far away, a nobleman lived happily in Idaho with his charming wife and their two young daughters. But no sooner had the oldest daughter turned three than the nobleman left his family.  The small family suffered the sad consequences of extinguished love."

Just had to put the first entire paragraph.

What are you reading?  What is your first line (or first paragraph)?
Open the book nearest you and post the first line...

"I hate snow." My dad hunched over the steering wheel, eyes squinting out the windshield, doing a pretty good impersonation of The Grinch.

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. - Kahlil Gibran I had to share this amazing quote that is before the first chapter of song of silence by Cynthia Ruchti

Here is the first line: Lucy removed her glasses and watched Ellie's thin, thirteen-year-old fingers splay against the girl's too-flat stomach.

Good ol' Jeremiah 29:11,13
"For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."
"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

I'm definitely going to have to add that book & series to my TBR list - I love Cinderella-based stories!!

Mine is from Kelli Stuart's Like a River From Its Course - "Papa! Papa!" The screams lift from my chest but I don't feel them escape.

I'm just about to crack open the pages of a new book (so exciting!), one that I've very much been looking forward to since it's sister book "Sit, Stay, Love" came out. These are from Dana Mentink and the newest one is entitled "Fetching Sweetness". The dog on the cover is almost too cute, his face I could stare at all day! :-)

"Stephanie almost regretted driving over the wedding cake"

I'm so intrigued now to read this, could probably devour it in one sitting...lol!!
