Oh wow! What a striking cover!! And an intriguing first line - really grabs you, doesn't it?

My first line from the book closest to me at the moment is “When a bride finds The Dress, there is joy, laughter, and on some occasions, even spontaneous dancing. There is none of that right now.” from Love, Lace, and Minor Alterations by V. Joy Brown. (I had to include the second line too! lol)

I know. Right! Love the cover (and the book)!

I don't know this one either. Sounds interesting. I am going to have to go look this one up as well!

Here's my first line: from “The Life We Never Expected” by Andrew & Rachel Wilson.

“This is a book about surviving, and thriving, spiritually when something goes horribly wrong.”

"See that man over there?" Mona Hodgson's The Bride Wore Blue. I'm not reading it yet but it is a book I won and received in the mail this week and was sitting right next to me.

Now I think a lot of heartache could be avoided if people would just use that kind of brutal honesty! Great first line!

No Other Will Do by Karen Witemeyer is motivating me today!
“Malachi Shaw made the arduous climb back into consciousness with great effort.”

I haven't heard of this one but it sounds interesting!

I'm reading Listening is an Act of Love: A celebration of American Life from the StoryCorps Project. The first line is:
"StoryCorps is on a few basic ideas: That our stories--the stories of everyday people--are as interesting and important as the celebrity stories we're bombarded with by the media every minute of the day."

It's not fiction, but it's a fascinating book of stories from people around the US.

I am happy to return to cyber space & first line Fridays! :-) My mom and her husband were visiting from New Zealand for the month of June, plus my son graduated on the 13th so I did a self-imposed sabbatical to spend as much time with family as possible :-) I’m refreshed and ready to rock & roll (though I still miss them terribly!).
Ok, my first line is from Protective Duty by Jessica R. Patch the second one of her LIS series.
“Bryn Eastman refused to think about the bullet that had pierced her abdomen.”

Which by the way, she’s an FBI profiler so shooting kind of comes with the territory, lol!

Great to be back among friends again Sydney!

That is a striking cover - but I'm most intrigued by the mismatched eyes.

Since Beth Erin beat me here with No Other Will Do, I'll share from the stack of books I'm organizing for my July reads:

"Sometimes, if he was not so drunk or the twins so loud, Bobby Barnes would consider how those rides to the mountain had become an echo of his life." There Will Be Stars by Billy Coffey
