Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line! Today I am going to post a line from Freedom's Price by Christine Johnson When Englishwoman Catherine Haynes loses both her parents and her home in 1856, she decides to cross the Atlantic to find her American mother's family in Louisiana. She enlists the help of Tom Worthington, a dashing Key West man who makes his living salvaging wrecked ships, but whose real goal in life is to bring to justice the man who stole his father's ship and caused his untimely death. When Catherine finally arrives at her family's plantation, she finds it in disarray and her family absent landowners. Torn between returning to Key West with Tom or beginning the hard work of restoring the plantation, Catherine soon finds herself snared in a plot to steal her inheritance. When an incredible secret comes to light, both she and Tom will face a choice. Can they relinquish the dreams that have been holding them captive in order to step forward in faith--even if it costs them everything? My First Line: Staffordshire, England Catherine Haynes pressed her ear to the study door. A girl of thirteen knew better than to eavesdrop, but how could she not? What are you reading? What is your first line?

Happy Friday! My first line is from Karen Krist's new LIH book The Engagement Charade, coming out July 1st (and it's REALLY good!): "Alexander Copeland's one goal in life was to be left alone."

I meant Karen Kirst! 6/16/2017 06:50:06 am
It sounds like a good book! I'm currently reading (and loving) All Of You by Sarah Monzon. "Lieutenant Michael "Finch" Carrington pulled up the zipper of his green flight suit and stared at the mass on the opposite rack." 6/16/2017 07:50:59 am
Intriguing first line! I'm currently reading three books: "The Valley of Vision" (devotional prayers from the Puritans), "Candle in the Darkness" (Lynn Austin), and still working on Sherman's Memoirs.

“She was so young and lovely, in her late twenties, but she was dying of cervical cancer, which had spread to many parts of her body.”
