Today I am going to post a line from

Close to Home
by Deborah Raney

From page one, this novel resonated in my heart.  For some reason stories that have characters impacted by war always touch a sensitive place in my heart.  Close to Home is the fourth book in the Chicory Inn Series.
I would highly recommend this novel, as well as an of the other books in this series.  Deborah Rainey is fantastic and this series is deep, touch, and truely inspiring.

Bree Cordel Whitman is a Whitman by marriage, but sometimes she forgets she wasn't born into Grant and Audrey's family. Her late husband, Timothy Whitman, gave his life for his country on a windblown hill in Afghanistan. Bree has let the love of Tim's family keep her ties to him strong--in the same way she keeps Tim's memory alive for them. But it's been almost five years, and she can't hang onto the past forever.

Fighting the guilt she feels for wanting to love again, she can't help her dreams about a tall, dark, and handsome man--a man who is not her Tim. How can she accept the flirtations from Drew Brooks without throwing the Whitman family back into grieving? And how can Drew compete with the ghost of a hero and the hero's very alive family who seem to hold some spell over the woman who shares their name . . . a woman he might just love?

Happy Friday! I'm going to read Close to Home.
My first line is from Joel C. Rosenberg’s new book Without Warning:
“I had never been in the Oval Office before.
But I’d always imagined my first time going differently.”

"No room!" The man with the large hat exclaimed. - Pool Tears by Erin Pyne (another take on Alice in Wonderland)

I bought this book ages ago at an art gallery in Asheville, NC, and I'm finally reading through it. One of the best parts of this short book is the illustrations created by Cayce Moyer.

I just finished reading "Congo Dawn" by Jeanette Windle. It was very different from what I usually read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
