It is obvious that Weimer has done her research, as she brings to life the characters in her story that starts in Salem North Carolina in August of 1805. Although there is an underlying theme of romance and growth in the relationship between the main couple in the story, there is also a lot of focus on the different types of people and their ways of life. This story is one that will teach readers about what it was like to be a missionary and live among the Cherokee and the knowledge, as well as the dangers it brings.
