Amish Christmas at North Star: Four Stories of Love by Cindy Woodsmall, Mindy Starns Clark and Emily Clark, Amanda Flower, and Katie Ganshert Genre: Amish; holiday; short stories; Christian Publisher: WaterBrook Press Publication Date: October 20, 2015 This collection is about “Rebekah’s babies.” One cold, stormy winter’s night Rebekah gives birth to four beautiful babies. Each short-story is centered on each of these babies, but all grown up. Guiding Star by Katie Ganshert is about Chase Wellington a man who discovers an old article discussing “Rebekah’s babies” and wonders where they are now. He decides to go in search of one of these babies; the one that went missing days after birth. Mourning Star by Amanda Flower is about Eden Hochstetler who becomes entangled in an investigation of the murder of her friend Isaac Yoder. Eden is determined to discover who killed him. In the Stars by Cindy Woodsmall is about Kore Detweiler who refuses to come home and visit his family or his love interest, Savilla, because he was previously rejected by her. Due to some business he must suddenly return home. Will he be able to reconcile with Savilla? Star of Grace by Mindy Starns Clark and Emily Clark is about Andy Danner who left home to work at a construction site in another Amish community. But his little brother is determined to bring him home for Christmas and devises a plan to do so. This collection of Amish holiday-centered stories by various authors is simply delightful to read. As a pretty quick, but fun read, I thoroughly enjoyed the individual stories of each of “Rebekah’s babies” written by multiple authors. Each story was enjoyable and uniquely different from the others in the collection. Readers will be able to see each voice of the different authors throughout the book. Each story has characters that have trials they have to overcome that lead them to joy in the end. Themes of family and romance are in these stories as well. With enjoyable Amish characters and holiday themed stories, readers will be sure to love this charming book collection. Rating G: some light kissing Reviewer’s Copy received from the Publisher.
