Summary On the night of their engagement party, Marianne Denton is enraged when her fiancé, Noah Brenin leaves the party early to set sail on his ship, The Fortune, with goods to sell in England. Angry and hurt, Marianne follows him to his ship and unbeknownst to him boards. After hitting her head and passing out in the process of retrieving a cat, Seafoam, from a closed off room, Marianne realizes she is at sea. Distraught, she insists that Noah return her to shore at once. Noah is shocked when he realizes Marianne is aboard his ship, but refuses to return her home. England and America are on the brink of war, so one day when a British Naval ship appears over the horizon and begins to chase his ship Noah tries to outrun it. Much to his dismay his ship is too heavy to move thanks to Marianne wreaking havoc by ruining the rice aboard the ship, thus weighing them down. To the crew’s horror they are taken aboard the British frigate, HMS Undefeatable. Here they are forced to work under the horrid conditions of the ship and British control. Will Marianne and Noah survive? Will they realize their love for each other before it is too late, or will the British destroy them all? Author Information Acclaimed author, M.L. A Christy award nominee, MaryLu makes her home with her husband, six children, and four cats on the California coast, where her imagination still surges with the sea. Review
Christy Award finalist and best-selling author MaryLu Tyndall has created a story with history, adventure, and romance. This sea-going, well-crafted novel, brings to light events that could have happened prior to and during the War of 1812 between Great Britain and the United States. This novel is a great beginning to the Surrender to Destiny Trilogy, crafting a story that will leave readers wondering what will happen next to Noah’s crew and his fiancé, Marianne as she braves the wide ocean and being held captive on a British ship.
