Nexis (Tricksters #1) by A.L. Davroe

About the Book
In the domed city of Evanescence, appearance is everything. A Natural Born amongst genetically-altered Aristocrats, all Ella ever wanted was to be like everyone else. Augmented, sparkling, and perfect. Then…the crash. Devastated by her father’s death and struggling with her new physical limitations, Ella is terrified to learn she is not just alone, but little more than a prisoner.
Her only escape is to lose herself in Nexis, the hugely popular virtual reality game her father created. In Nexis she meets Guster, a senior player who guides Ella through the strange and compelling new world she now inhabits. He offers Ella guidance, friendship…and something more. Something that allows her to forget about the “real” world, and makes her feel whole again. But Nexis isn’t quite the game everyone thinks it is. And it’s been waiting for Ella. About the Author
A.L. (Amanda) Davroe writes both YA and adult speculative fiction. She prefers revisionist tales in paranormal, romance, Steampunk, and fantasy. She is the author of Salvation Station (adult psych horror), The City Steam Collection (adult psych horror), For Your Heart (YA Paranormal Romance) and her YA Sci-Fi novel, Nexis, is coming out with Entangled Publishing December 1, 2015!
By day, Amanda lives in Connecticut with her two feline hench-creatures and makes cheese. She's a terrible blusher, has a weak spot for cuddly animals, loves Laffy Taffy and Cadbury MiniEggs, and she's a huge advocate of alternative healing methods. Amanda also wears purple shoes and corsets...Though not always in the same ensemble. She's a Capricorn, a Hufflepuff, a bit gothic, and a few nuggets short of a Happy Meal. Author Interview with A.L. DavroeReview
A.L. Davroe’s latest release, Nexis, is a fast-paced dystopian, science fiction, fantasy-adventure, romance novel that teens will love. In a world where you are told what to do and how to act, Ella is hidden away, so that everyone thinks she is dead, after a tragic accident that kills her father and leaves her body hurt and partially ruined. In her locked away room, it is here she must enter her father’s renowned virtual reality game to discover a secret he has left behind for her. This action packed story will have readers on their toes, wondering what will take place, whether in Ella’s reality world or within the world of the game, Nexis. With an enticing plot line and entertaining characters, teens will not be able to put this story down. I would recommend this novel to readers, especially teens, that enjoy futuristic, science fiction, action packed, romance stories.

About the BookIn England’s Regency era, manners and elegance reign in public life—but behind closed doors treason and tawdriness thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or bloody barbarity. After suffering a battlefield injury, the wealthy, well-connected British officer returns home to heal—and to fulfill a dying soldier’s last wish by delivering his coded diary. At the home of the Wilherns, one of England’s most powerful families, Langdon attends a lavish ball where he meets their beautiful and intelligent ward, Julia Grey. Determined to maintain propriety, he keeps his distance—until the diary is stolen and all clues lead to Julia’s guardian. As Langdon traces an evil plot that could be the nation’s undoing, he grows ever more intrigued by the lovely young woman. And when Julia realizes that England—and the man she is falling in love with—need her help, she finds herself caught in the fray. Don't forget to pre-order (links above). About the BookI'm not who they think I am. A docile girl who meekly obeys her stepmother and stepsisters. Some kind of sick angel who cheerfully bears their mistreatment. That's what I WANT them to think. Because then they won't suspect what I'm really up to. The ball, the prince - it's all part of my plan to come out on top. Stepmother and her demented daughters will pay for every floor I have scoured, every sneer I have borne. They don't know about the white magic, how I use it to enhance myself. They can't see that my heart is black as midnight, rotten as a poisoned apple. They're about to find out. About the AuthorAnita thinks people like to read lists more than paragraphs, so she does her bio as such. * Born and raised in Philly, home of the best cheesesteaks. * Except for first grade, homeschooled all the way through. * Two younger brothers and two younger sisters who are my very bestest friends. * Married at 20, had three kids by 30. Developed the Nine Princesses during that period. * Gave up the project several times in frustration and despair over the publishing industry. * At 31, thanks to the internet and Kindle, finally published "Maelyn". So happy. * Random interests: drawing, reading, music, chocolate, Nintendo, BBC movies, Colin Firth, Panera Bread. ReviewSinful Cinderella by Anita Valle is a delightful twist on one of my all-time favorite fairytales, Cinderella. Although, the story did not go the way I thought it would at all, I was pleasantly surprised with the exciting plot development and cast of characters. This is not your typical Cinderella fractured fairytale. This well-written and magical story had many twists that I never expected. Especially another fairytale that is tied in at the end. No spoilers though; read this story to find out. I would highly recommend this novel to teens that enjoy retellings of fairytale stories.
