About the Book
he fancied herself part of a timeless chain without beginning or end, linked only by the silver strong words of its tellers.
In the year 1841, on the eve of her departure from London, Bridie’s mother demands she forget her dead father and prepare for a sensible, adult life in Port Phillip. Desperate to save her childhood, fifteen-year-old Bridie is determined to smuggle a notebook filled with her father’s fairytales to the far side of the world. When Rhys Bevan, a soft-voiced young storyteller and fellow traveller realises Bridie is hiding something, a magical friendship is born. But Rhys has his own secrets and the words written in Bridie’s notebook carry a dark double meaning. As they inch towards their destination, Rhys’s past returns to haunt him. Bridie grapples with the implications of her dad’s final message. The pair take refuge in fairytales, little expecting the trouble it will cause. About the Author

In author Elizabeth Jane Corbett’s novel, The Tides Between, she shares a haunting story of the struggles of a group of Welsh emigrants; of the struggle of leaving the lives they had behind; and the struggle of the journey to get to a new land. It’s about secrets, the past coming to haunt, memories, friendship, redemption, and the use of fairytales to help forget the present and sometimes the past. This is a powerful story that will capture the attention of readers from page one. Readers will enjoy the author’s unique writing style in this debut novel as the characters come to life from the pages. This is a story for readers of historical fiction and fairytales.

Hello and welcome to the Christmas blog hop & giveaway with Kat's Corner Books, Faithfully Bookish,
Bookworm Mama, Singing Librarian Books, and Reading is My SuperPower. Christmas TraditionsBratzilies
My family has a rich Swiss heritage. My mother’s father’s ancestors are from Switzerland. Every Christmas we share in this heritage by making Bratzilies. This is a special type of lemon and vanilla flavored cookie cooked on a special cookie press. We make them every year during the holidays without fail. It is a tradition that has been going on as long as I can remember. It’s a time we can be together, enjoy each other’s company, and enjoy making these fun cookies!
Christmas Stories
Growing up every Christmas Eve my family gathers with my grandparents, my mother’s parents, to read Christmas stories, including The Night Before Christmas (a classic pop-up book), and to hear the story of the Savior’s birth. Grandpa also always tells us a story from his child involving Santa Clause and the bathtub. The story something like this:
On the night of Christmas Eve two little boys were put in the tub to be scrubbed clean for Christmas Day. Santa Clause came while they were in the tub. The older little boy hopped out of the tub and ran and got in bed. For he knew if he was not in bed when Santa came he would not get any toys. The second and younger little boy tried to follow his example, but his mother grabbed his arm. And there he stood bare naked in front of Santa Clause. But Santa told him that he would come back later once he and his brother were in bed. The first little boy had soaked his bed sheets and so their mother had to strip and remake the bed. And once the little boys were in bed. Santa returned, leaving them presents for Christmas morning. Now that I have my own family. We are continuing on the tradition of reading stories on Christmas Eve. But we are also starting our own tradition. We have a box full of wrapped Christmas stories. There should be one for every day until Christmas, but we don’t have quite that may yet. So for now we are spreading them out. But we read a story every few days as a family. This gives us time to be together, enjoy each other’s company, as well as enjoy the spirit of the season. Giveaway on SLBBlog Hop Giveaway
