About the BookIsabel Creston never dared to dream that love could be hers. Now, at the edge of a forest filled with dark secrets, she faces a fateful choice between love and duty. For as long as she can remember, beautiful and free-spirited Isabel has strained against the rules and rigidity of the Fellsworth School in the rolling English countryside. No longer a student, Isabel set her sights on a steady role as a teacher at the school, a safe yet stifling establishment that would enable her to care for her younger sister Lizzie, who was left in her care after her father’s death. The unexpected arrival of a stranger with news of unknown relatives turns Isabel’s small, predictable world upside down, sweeping her and her young charge into a labyrinth of intrigue and hidden motives. At her new family’s invitation, Isabel and Lizzie relocate to Emberwilde, a sprawling estate adjacent to a vast, mysterious wood rife with rumors and ominous folklore—along with whispers of something far more sinister. Perhaps even more startling, two handsome men begin pursuing Isabel, forcing her to learn the delicate dance between attraction, the intricate rules of courtship, and the hopes of her heart. At Emberwilde Isabel will discover that the key to unlocking the mystery of her past may also open the door to her future and security. But first she must find it—in the depths of Emberwilde Forest. About the Book This is a set of five novellas that intertwine within the fictional town of Echo Ridge, New York. This is the second installment in the series, but is a complete stand-alone. Welcome to Echo Ridge, New York where romance finds its way into the hearts and lives of the people who walk the streets of the close-knit community. In these five novellas, readers will experience the power a book has to change a life, make dreams come true, and bring two hearts together as the characters work to fill the classic section of the library. Filled with charm, wit, secrets, and hope, each story is a sweet romance with a promise to keep you turning pages into the night. We hope you enjoy this book and the kisses between the lines. The Kiss Thief by Rachelle J. Christensen As the head librarian of the Echo Ridge Library, Britta Klein thrives on order and categorization. Unfortunately, the old church-turned-library is in desperate need of a renovation. The Harvest Hurrah fundraiser seems to be the answer, but plans keep going awry. With help from Milo Geissler, accomplished musician, piano tuner, and kiss thief, each catastrophe is narrowly avoided. Britta’s heart refuses to be swayed by his help, personal attention, or his irresistible dimpled smile. When Milo goes to great lengths to help Britta find a key classic book, she begins to wonder if there is more to life than books and order. Can she allow this man who speaks the language of music to tune her heart to a new song? The Lion, The Witch, & The Library by Lucy McConnell Jennifer Solomon's birthday wish is for the one thing she's been too shy to go after: Kirke Staples, Echo Ridge’s resident playwright, an avid mountain biker, and her best friend. Friend, as in don’t kiss, don’t covet, and don’t under any circumstances fall in love with the man. But it’s too late—she’s already fallen in love. Hoping for a birthday kiss that will change everything, she arranges an "accidental" meeting with the handsomest man on the library board. Her carefully laid plans are thrown off track when the beautiful Bay Barington sweeps into town and casts a spell over Kirke. In her efforts to win Kirke’s heart, Jennifer is forced to take a look at her inner self and decide what type of woman she wants to be, a lion or witch. The Last of the Gentlemen by Cami Checketts Despite the hardships she’s faced, Emma Turner, is determined to make a good life for her three children. Working nights and struggling through life doesn’t leave much time for romance, which is just fine as far as Emma is concerned. But when her son's good-looking lacrosse coach takes an interest in her children, Emma has to fight off the smolder in her stomach and banish her daydreams. This school-girl crush needs to end before she embarrasses her son and herself. If only she could tell that to her heart. Much Ado About a Kiss by Heather Tullis Fay’s life is just fine, thank you. Running the café she’d practically been raised in: Check. Her artwork in a gallery: Check. Volunteering on the library board: Check. The one thing she doesn’t need right now is a guy in her life—especially her brother’s irritating best friend from high school, so when the two men announce that they are moving home to start a ski and mountain bike shop in town, she isn’t pleased. If only she could completely forget that one kiss she and Austin shared in high school, and the way it made her heart flutter when she thought about it. Why does he have to upset her just-fine world? Not this time. Not if she can help it. But can she? Pride & Persuasion by Connie E. Sokol Lindy Marchant has left heartbreak and downtown L.A. to help her cousin kickstart an antique shop in sleepy Echo Ridge. That is, until she's roped into the library fundraiser to become an assistant for Armand D. Beaumont, the French bestselling detective writer. The two have met before, and Lindy hasn't forgotten the disastrous outcome. Now Armand's celebrity quirks threaten to upset her life yet again. Or, is there a deeper reason for his unpredictable choices? While Armand inadvertently assists Lindy with the shop, she uncovers his painful truth and an inconvenient growing attraction. As Lindy's L.A. past catches up with her, decisions must be made. Can Armand let go of his pride and face his fears? And can Lindy be persuaded to take the untried road, even together? OVERCOMING WITH GOD | COLONIAL QUILLS Review
Tea Shop Folly by Carrie Fancett Pagels is a sweet romance story that readers will thoroughly enjoy. It is about a woman, Lilly, that has inherited her great-aunt’s house full of old tea cups. But for some reason, a young man, Theo, gets the impression that Lilly’s establishment is a tea shop, when it actually is not. Through this confusion, as well as a visit from the local police due to no business license, a warm friendship and romance blossom between Lilly and Theo. A funny situation turned into a blissful romance. I would recommend this story to readers that enjoy historical fiction, romance.

Sometime Houston socialite, Tracy Truworth, is always on the lookout for something suspicious, especially after growing up with her nose in the latest Katie McClue mystery novel, a series featuring a twenty-something female detective and her constant feats of derring do. And for Tracy, escaping reality through reading couldn’t come at a better time, since her own life isn’t exactly going along like she’d hoped, considering her overbearing mother insists that Tracy marry Michael — a lawyer likely to be a U.S. Senator someday — in a wedding rivaling royalty. Yet everything changes for Tracy when she spots a bleach-blonde bombshell on the train home from Dallas after a shopping trip to Neiman Marcus. Because something certainly seems amiss with the blonde, given the way she covertly tries to snare men into her lair, and considering she ceases all flirtations when a Humphrey Bogart lookalike suddenly appears . . . complete with a mysterious package wrapped up in newspaper and twine. But days later, Japan bombs Pearl Harbor and a few days after that, Germany declares war against the U.S. Rightly so, President Roosevelt returns the favor. And soon Tracy finds herself caught up in the War, just like the rest of the nation. But it’s her curiosity that leads her on a collision course with a killer, and she arrives at the bombshell’s apartment only moments after the blonde is murdered. Though Tracy is accused of the crime at first, she soon finds herself working as an Apprentice P.I., under the tutelage of a real private investigator. Soon, they’re hot on the trail of the bombshell’s murderer. From singing at the hottest nightclub around, the Polynesian Room, to a car chase in her 1940 Packard, Tracy’s investigation takes her far from her blue-blood upbringing. It isn’t long before she finds the War is hitting a lot closer to home than she ever imagined . . . And danger isn’t much farther than her doorstep . . . Cindy Vincent, M.A. Ed., is the award-winning author of the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Capers, a mystery series for kids and cat-lovers that features the adventures of two black cat detectives. And yes, as she is often asked, Cindy used her own black cats, Buckley and Bogey, as the inspiration for the series, since they seem to run surveillance on her house each and every night. Cindy is also the creator of the Mysteries by Vincent murder mystery party games and the Daisy Diamond Detective Series games for girls, along with the Daisy Diamond Detective novels, which are a spin-off from the games. She lives in Houston, TX with her husband and an assortment of fantastic felines. Cindy is a self-professed “Christmas-a-holic,” and usually starts planning and preparing in March for her ever-expanding, “extreme” Christmas lights display every year . . . She is also looking forward to the release of the first book in her new Tracy Truworth, Apprentice P.I., 1940s Homefront Mystery series, which is due out in the Fall of 2016. Check out the interview with the author HERE. 1. I have long had an appreciation of the entire 1940s/WWII era. In fact, for twenty years, I wrote, published, and sold my own line of murder mystery party games under the name Mysteries by Vincent, and I used the 1940s as the backdrop for many of my game titles. They were fan favorites. 2. People tell me I was born in the wrong era, that I would’ve fit in better in the 1940s. I think this may be true, except that I am not the world’s best cook. (And women did a LOT of cooking back in those days. From scratch, even. Yikes!) :) 3. I believe we are greatly impacted by the weather, so I always like to add weather-related events into a story. In this book, my lead character, Tracy Truworth, experiences a number of very nasty thunderstorms, as can be typical here in Houston. I think adding extreme weather to a scene helps to heighten the mystery, as well as put a reader right smack dab into the story, allowing them to use all their senses. It also adds great drama, without overdoing it. 4. To help me better get into the mindset of my lead character, Tracy, I wore dresses every day for a month, since women rarely wore pants during the 1940s. At first I thought this would be a real nuisance and very uncomfortable. Amazingly, I found the opposite to be true. I was actually more comfortable wearing a dress, and I continue to wear more dresses and skirts even now. 5. I write on a desk from the late 1930s, and I also have a 1940s globe on the 1940s armoire in my office. The globe turned out to be a great source of reference! 6. My favorite movie is Casablanca, from 1942. In fact, I love this movie so much that I named one of my cats Bogart, after Humphrey Bogart, of course. And though it’s not from the movie, one of my favorite (and very romantic) songs of that era is Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade, (though here’s a version with lyrics). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVyJqIjRzHA 7. My husband’s aunt was a WASP (Women’s Air Service Pilot) during WWII. Reading her materials really showed me the mindset of the citizen soldiers who served so gallantly in defense of freedom. She was such an outstanding pilot that she was eventually picked to be one of the Mercury 13, the first women to train for the country’s burgeoning astronaut program. 8. My dream car is a 1940 Packard. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to own one, but time will tell. Ha! But since I don’t own one now, I settled on the next best thing by having my character drive one. I got to see lots of Packards at old car shows, and talked to several Packard owners. Oh, how I wish cars today were as stylish! 9. The name Tracy Truworth is a nod to the old Dick Tracy comics, radio shows, and movies. The name is a combination of Dick Tracy, and Tess Trueheart, who was his sweetheart. 10. For my first job out of college, I worked in a skilled care nursing home, and had the great privilege of working mostly with the WWII generation, including a number of vets. I learned so much from those people. They were such an upbeat and optimistic bunch, and they didn’t need fancy things to keep them entertained. Singing, playing cards, and just generally having a conversation was plenty for them. I truly came to admire that wonderful generation who’d grown up with next to nothing, and yet were so completely selfless. Meeting and knowing them was an experience that has stayed with me my entire life. I enjoyed hearing their stories, and I thought of them many times as I worked on this 1940s book. Suddenly I felt a strange tingling across my skin, like something mysterious, maybe even dangerous, was about to happen. My mind instantly went back to the latest Katie McClue novel I’d devoured. The mystery series had been my favorite since I was in my teens, and this newest episode, The Case of the Stolen Sapphires, had started out on a train. And like most of the adventures of the 21-year-old detective, a massive thunderstorm had blazed and boomed in the background. Enter the giveaway HERE.
About the BookTiffany Rodgers is the kind of danger that she never dreamed could happen to her in the quiet little town of Newville. She is being stalked and having strange visions. The animals even seem different of late, somehow affected by the changes in the air. Officer Allen Lawrence is drawn to Tiffany, but he has reservations. Is she losing her mind, playing games, or are the things that she is seeing more than just evil forebodings? About the AuthorCarol E. Keen currently resides in Alabama with her husband and family. She spends her time writing, reading, working on photography, and working with her much loved critters. She started creating stories to share with others at the age of two years old. She was published for several years in FAMA magazine (Freshwater And Marine Aquarium) as a contributing editor. She published her first book on CD, called Simply Seahorses. She is overjoyed to be publishing her fiction to share with you now. Carol currently has more books in the “works”. Please feel free to follow her for updates. On a personal note: Carol really enjoys coffee and a good book! Guest Post from Carol E. KeenWell, I know it isn’t lady like or proper to squeak or go “Eeeeeee!” with excitement, but it’s so hard not to do so. I’m past excited to be on this tour with Celebrate Lit! First I have to say, these are wonderful folks who I’m so very blessed to get to work with! Now, today I’m doing happy dances over your being here for the kick off for my book, Evil Forebodings. It’s my second published book, and my first full-length fiction novel. This book took eight, yes that is 8, long years to complete. What on Earth could take me that long to write one book? It started with my first event called, NanoWriteMo. In my case, it was NanoWrite-less! Who had the “brilliant” idea to have a huge writing contest smack over Thanksgiving and two major birthdays in our family? It was a disaster. It was as bad as saying a night person like myself has to function at 8:00am and be good at it. I was alone in my endeavor and didn’t get far at all. A few years later, I went back to working on this book. This time I had a huge emotional backset from an incident that was just traumatic. I was told, in essence, that I wasn’t good enough to write for a career, and that my focus was on all the wrong things in my life. This came from a published author, who really didn’t know me. I was weighed and judged unfairly, and it was devastating. I learned a great deal though, and pretty much gave up on doing things the way I had been. Forging ahead anyway, my first book, Beauty For Ashes, was published. Then I got to work on Evil Forebodings. This story and its characters have never left me, and I knew I had to finish this book. I’m really pleased with how it turned out, and I hope that you will enjoy it. While I believe all authors put some of themselves into their work, this book had a heavy dose of my heart infused into it in several places. Thank you so much for joining me on this adventure, and please feel free to ask questions! Blessings, Carol ReviewEvil Forbodings by Carol E. Keen is a supernatural, paranormal novel with plenty of suspense and a bit of romance. From page one, I was getting tingles down my spine from the different events taking place with the characters. I had a bit of a hard time getting into the novel, and it was a bit creepier than I expected for it being a Christian novel. I would recommend this novel to readers that enjoy supernatural, paranormal, suspense stories. Genre: supernatural, paranormal, suspense, romance, Christian Publisher: Carol E.
